Originally the place where cattle belonging to villagers who had not paid their grazing rights were impounded until payment was made, The Pound was purchased by the Council in 1926 to keep it safe.
The pleasant green space next to the village Pound, known as Pansy Vale, is also owned and maintained by the Parish Council. Fruit trees and a bug hotel can be found here.
